Spring Break = Road Trip! | Monterey and Big Sur
I absolutely love how much there is to explore around here! I’m pretty sure that it’s no secret that I’m a little consumed with California’s beautiful coastline, so when there is an opportunity to get out and do a little road tripping, I rarely hesitate. This time it was for spring break, and we took a few days to check out Monterey, Big Sur, and Santa Cruz.
We packed a lot of fun into three short days, starting with the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where we decided to go ahead and get a family membership. Best investment, ever! We’ve been back once, so far, and it’s already paid for itself. It was the boys’ first time visiting this aquarium, but all three kiddos had a blast.
Day two was spent exploring Big Sur. We crossed Bixby Bridge, and I contributed to it being one of the most photographed bridges along the Pacific Coast Highway. Then, we took the short, half-mile hike out to McWay Falls. It was definitely worth it! Can you believe how blue the water is? We finished our day at Pffeifer Beach, home of purple sand (for real!) and the Sun Portal. I had been hoping to grab some photos of the Sun Portal at sunset, but it was SO windy that the sand was whipping everywhere, so after a bit, we headed back to our hotel. Next time, for sure!
